Check from the ground
Use binoculars to look for slipped, cracked or missing tiles, damaged ridge tiles and loose flashing around chimneys.
Clear your gutters
Autumn leaves block gutters and downpipes. In heavy rain the water overflows, soaking walls and causing damp inside.
Look in the loft
After rain, check the loft with a torch for damp patches, drips or daylight showing through. Catching a leak early saves a costly repair.
